About Castello Banfi Vineyard and Winery

Castello Banfi Winery is built partly above ground and partly underground. Such is the degree of computer control that the entire above-ground operation can be controlled by just a few people, while below ground natural elements combine to maintain the ideal conditions for ageing and storing wines year round. The winery contains over 300 stainless steel tanks and 2,000 French oak barriques, plus traditional Slavonian oak casks, used for Brunello di Montalcino, and shaved every ten years or so. These casks have a life of 30 to 50 years. The total storage capacity of the winery is over 12 million liters.

Castello Banfi Winery Cum Laude

Well-crafted red, with aromas of spice, meat and tar that turn to fresh fruit. Medium-bodied, with clean and fresh fruit, firm tannins and a crisp finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese and Syrah.

Castello Banfi Winery Brunello di Montalcino

Loads of mineral and dried flowers behind the ripe fruit and almost raisiny character. Full-bodied, with smooth, silky tannins and a long fruity, berry, almost fresh herb aftertaste. An exceptional wine.

Castello Banfi Winery Tavernelle

This outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon from Tuscanyhas interesting aromas of ripe fruit and meat,with hints of dried herbs. It's full-bodied andvery concentrated, with plenty of velvety tanninsand a long finish.

Castello Banfi Winery Exelsus

This young red shows lots of currant and tea aromas. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a polished, medium, fruity aftertaste. Cabernet and Merlot.
