California’s Napa Valley has long been associated with the finest New World wines. One of the key wineries found in Napa Valley is Decoy, a branch of the Duckhorn Wine Company family. Decoy has been going strong for over twenty years now, and has garnered a powerful reputation for producing red and white wines which are of supreme quality, while being affordable and accessible for all. The main Decoy selling point is that their wines are mostly ready upon release, best drunk young and capable of expressing the finer features of their terroir amid their complexity and charm.

Decoy was originally a single wine, produced by Duckhorn Vineyards, but its popularity meant that it was able to grow and expand, and become a winery in its own right. The original product was the now famous Decoy Red, but today, the winery has a wider portfolio which includes superb Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay wines, each crafted with love and care, and each a particular expression of the land on which the grapes are grown and the wine is produced.

There is no one single vintner behind Decoy. Being a branch of Duckhorn Wine, the Decoy winery benefits from the minds and innovative approach of all four of the Duckhorn winemakers. Each of these individuals has their own specialisms and area of expertise, meaning that Decoy can constantly evolve and grow, innovate and experiment. The fruit which is used in Decoy’s wines is carefully selected from a range of estate vineyards, grown by some of the best grape growers in California, and processed using a range of traditional and modern techniques. The aim is to continue producing affordable wines which contain the spirit of Napa Valley, and demonstrate the range and excellence this region is famed for.
