Duckhorn Winery 2001 Sauvignon Blanc
Our Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of several individual vineyard lots. We source fruit from the various appellations throughout the Napa Valley, focusing on those sites planted in alluvial soils. Our preference for barrel fermentation and the addition of the Sémillon varietal to the final blend results in a unique, full-flavored Sauvignon Blanc with balanced acids and bright fruit flavors.
Duckhorn Vineyards 2001 Merlot
Our Napa Valley Merlot is a blend of several individual vineyard lots, utilizing fruit from our own Estate Vineyards and from independent growers throughout the Napa Valley. The final wine is an expression of the Napa Valley itself, reflecting the unique micro-climates and soils of the entire appellation.
Duckhorn Winery 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon
This wine has a classic Cabernet aroma of cassis, black olive, cherry and tea. A perceived sweetness is apparent on entry and develops into flavors of plum, blackberry, toasted oak, pepper, and bittersweet chocolate. The layered tannins are soft and gracefully integrated with the fruit. Ready to drink upon release, this wine will age well for the next 15 years.
Duckhorn Vineyards 2000 Pinot Noir
The aroma of the wine is layered and multi-faceted with creamy vanilla, toasty oak, smoked meat and coffee. The forward flavors on the palate are sweet cherry, strawberry and plum followed by black tea and caramel. A lingering finish is balanced with well-integrated tannins and oak.
Duckhorn Winery 2000 Decoy Red Wine
Just as our Duckhorn wines are produced from classic Bordeaux varietals, so too are the wines of our second label—Decoy. The varietal composition of Decoy changes with each vintage, utilizing fruit from young vines, research lots, or lots that do not demonstrate the style we are seeking for the Duckhorn Vineyards wines.
Duckhorn Winery 2000 Paraduxx Red Wine
This enjoyable effort exhibits a range of dark fruit aromas including raspberry, black cherry and currant. The initial scent is smoky with layers of toasted coconut and vanilla which evolves into hints of rose petal framed by caramelized sugar and clove while underneath are traces of cocoa and soy. The bright acidity as the wine enters your mouth belies the strawberry and blackberry jam flavors that follow quickly and then give way to mild mid-palate tannins. The smooth finish lingers with hints of white pepper, tobacco and toasty oak.
Duckhorn Winery King Eider Premium Dry Vermouth
King Eider is a distinctively flavored California premium dry vermouth. This aromatic wine was developed by the winery to reintroduce our consumers to the Civility of L'aperitif. Using some of our fine Sauvignon Blanc as the base wine, we incorporated a proprietary blend of aromatic herbs and spices such as chamomile flower, star anise, bitter orange rind, sweet cinnamon, and rose buds prior to aging. The resulting vermouth was then stored in French oak barrels before bottling. It is exceptional as an aperitif served with appetizers such as sweet dates stuffed with goat cheese, dry cheeses such as Asiago, Pecorino, or Parmesan, or lightly salted toasted nuts. King Eider can also be used as a flavorful component in any cooking or drink recipe calling for dry vermouth.
