Falesco Winery

Italian Wine, Umbria

About Falesco Vineyard and Winery

Falesco Winery was established in 1979 with the principal aim of rediscovering and enhancing the value of Lazio traditional varietals. Several years later it is impossible to list the accolades bestowed upon owner, Riccardo Cotarella. Without a doubt he is one of Italy finest winemakers and Winebow is extremely proud to have traveled with him on his journey towards success.

Located 50 miles from Rome, Falesco vineyards are situated in the most prestigious areas around the Umbrian - Lazian border. Immediately after harvest the grapes are transported to the winery where the most advanced technology is employed to achieve the best vinification and the resulting exceptional wines.

Falesco Winery Montiano

This Montiano cuvee is made from 100% merlot. Do not bother trying to find similarities with the style of a Saint Emilion or a Pomerol. The sandy-clay terroir, of volcanic origin, lends this wine finesse and particularity of character. It is certainly a wine that has winning charm, but it is also meaty and sappy. A wine that is both soft and concentrated, in keeping with the winemaking practices of Ricardo Cotarella.

Falesco Winery Vitiano

Vitiano is a balanced blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is dark ruby in color, dry with moderate acidity and a nose of black cherry, strawberry and spice. Medium-full in body with soft tannins, it offers intense fruit of black cherries and strawberries. Aged 4 months in new French oak, it is beautifully balanced with a long, rich finish.
