Freemark Abbey Winery

California Wine, Napa Valley

About Freemark Abbey Vineyard Winery

It began over a quarter of a century ago as a vision shared by a handful of pioneers; those with an intimate knowledge of grapes and a deep respect for the land. This vision took root, was nurtured by skilled hands and ultimately resulted in one of the first premium wineries in the Napa Valley. Today, the wine of Freemark Abbey Winery stands as a testament to what the rich earth of the Napa Valley is capable of creating when working in perfect harmony with nature.

Freemark Abbey Winery 1999 Cabernet Bosché

Freemark's critically acclaimed single vineyard Cabernet Bosche hails from the Bosche Vineyard, Located on the Rutherford bench. Rated among the "Ten Greatest Vineyards" by Wine Spectator columnist James Laube, this wine is marvelously rich and complex with a subtle blend of Merlot. It is aged two years in French oak barrels to fully develop.

Freemark Abbey Winery 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon

Freemark Abbey is best known for its exceptional Cabernets from the Rutherford sub-appellation of Napa Valley. Small berries and ideal microclimates contribute to great color, depth and flavor. Blending Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc grapes with two years barrel aging adds complexity and balance.

Freemark Abbey Winery 1999 Merlot

This fruit-forward Merlot is soft with rich varietal aromas. Blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot for complexity and structure, this wine expresses the flavors of plum and cherries with a background of arugula. Crafted for immediate consumption, this wine is aged for one year in a combination of French and American oak barrels.

Freemark Abbey Winery 2001 Chardonnay

Freemark has historically been known for its classic style Chardonnay, fresh and medium- bodied with a fruit-centered complexity. Typically one third is barrel fermented while the balance is fermented cold in stainless steel tanks and is transferred to barrels after the fermentation. This non- malolactic chardonnay is aged for 6-8 months in French oak barrels.

Freemark Abbey Winery 2001 Carpy Ranch Viognier

With a fruity citrus aroma, this wine is finished with a very pleasant balance of flavor. While stylistically this Viognier fits into a fresh and fruity category such as Riesling, it is partially oak aged to develop the additional complexity of Chardonnay.

Freemark Abbey Winery White Riesling 2000

Floral, fruity and remarkably fresh, this wine is made in an off-dry style. It is filled with a varietal spiciness reminiscent of Babcock peaches. Immediately bottled following stainless steel fermentation this wine is best enjoyed by itself, as a picnic wine, aperitif, or as a complement to spicy dishes.

Freemark Abbey Winery 1999 Edelwein Gold

When Mother Nature cooperates, Freemark Abbey produces an exceptional late-harvest Johannisberg Riesling called Edelwein Gold. This wonderful dessert wine has luscious aromas and flavors of apricots, raisins, peaches, honey- suckle, almonds, and honey.
