About Jones Family Vineyard Wines

Jones Family Vineyards are located on a south facing hillside between St. Helena and Calistoga in the Northern Napa Valley. The vineyard's location provides the ideal combination of soil and climate for the development of Cabernet Sauvignon. Vineyard manager David Abreu, and winemaker, Heidi Barrett, have worked together to maximize the potential of the location and produce an outstanding wine that will continue to mature and gain complexity over the years.

Jones Family Winery 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2000 Cabernet is a big, fully ripe, dark wine made from the Jones Estate Vineyards in the eastern Napa Valley hills between Saint Helena and Calistoga. The nose has such purity of fruit that is difficult to attain. Deep cassis, black cherry and ripe berry dominate the aromas which lead to a similar flavor profile. The wine is very round and lush in the mouth with just slightly dusty tannins. Even though very young at this tasting, the wine is so approachable, drinkable and enjoyable right now. It has silky softness in the mouth and yet has powerful flavors at the same time. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it.

Jones Family Winery 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon

The 1999 vintage produced some awesome wines. It is one of the best years from the incredible decade of the 1990's. This wine is no exception. Deep, dark ruby red in color with beautiful aromas of concentrated black cherry and berry. It has hints of rose petal and sweet toasty french oak in the nose as well. In the mouth it is huge - tons of ripe lush fruit, great density and big mouthfeel. Tannins are restrained and elegant. Flavors are persistent lasting several minutes. This is a big balanced wine that will go well with a hearty meal.

Jones Family Winery 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine is red-ruby in color. It has nicely developed ripe fruit aromas of blackberry and cherry with a hint of red licorice. In the mouth, it again shows ripeness as well as good length. The flavors are consistent with the aromas. Moderate oak level adds to the complexity without overpowering the fruit. It has some spiciness and sweet toasty oak in the mouth. Ripe Cabernet flavor is persistent and lasts several minutes. The balance of all the flavor components is quite good. An exciting wine from a challenging vintage.

Jones Family Winery 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon

The 1997 vintage was an outstanding one producing fully ripe, deeply colored and concentrated wines. This cabernet shows off full dark ruby color and aromas of ripe berry, black current and cassis coming from fully ripe fruit. Hints of black olive add to the sweet french oak accents. In the mouth, the fruit is almost explosive in its intensity and purity. This is a big, elegantly styled wine with richness and balance at the same time. Can be enjoyed upon release or held for further aging.

Jones Family Winery 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep, dark ruby in color. Has a ripe cassis and blackcurrant type fruit in the nose with layered aromas of sweet oak and toast. Pretty classic for Cabernet. Bright powerful fruit in the mouth, lots of blackberry with a wonderful chewy texture. Big and rich in the mouth has an elegance and softness at the same time. Light dusty tannins in the finish. Overall a balanced, lovely wine. Has its own distinct footprint unique to this tiny estate vineyard.
