About Lewis Vineyard Wines

Lewis Winery is a small family winery established in 1992 by Debbie and Randy Lewis, and recently joined by their son Dennis. Total production is approximately 8,500 cases annually of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah. Lewis Winery is literally hands-on in every aspect of vineyard management, winemaking, sales and distribution, and we thrive on this challenge and the relationships we cultivate in the process. It is our continuing goal to create world class wines.

Lewis Winery 2001 Merlot

From low-yielding Pritchard Hill and Oak Knoll vineyards comes our seductive 2001 Merlot. The wine is downright sexy with sweet cedar, clove and spicy oak aromas swirling above a juicy cushion of black plum fruit. Finely polished and cloaked in round, integrated tannins this Merlot achieves a subtle balance of power and grace.

Lewis Winery 2000 Cuvee L

Think of Cuvee L as super-charged Lewis Reserve Cabernet. Red wine at red-line. First created from the 1997 vintage, the single best barrels from our finest lots fuel this rare and racy wine. In 2000, for the first time since the 1997 vintage, we had the components to again qualify for a Cuvee L bottling. From only 10 barrels of our finest Pritchard Hill and Oakville blocks we created a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Deeply infused with toasty oak and lavish black fruit the 2000 Cuvee L is deliciously ripe and opulent, finishing with supple, integrated tannins.

Lewis Winery 2000 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Our 2000 Reserve Cabernet is a beautiful, showy wine, spilling-over with spicy oak and aromatic cedar, centered on opulent black fruit. Absolutely rich, ripe and round, we used 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot in this Reserve blend. A cloak of vanilla, clove and seductive oak spice wraps around a deeply fruited core of currant and wild berries with hints of anise and chocolate that gradually give way to long, mouth-coating tannins.

Lewis Winery 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon

Showcasing the unique personalities of small hillside vineyards from Pritchard Hill, Oakville and Rutherford, our 2001 Napa Valley Cabernet delivers a complex array of ripe berry, cocoa, tobacco and sweet oak spice aromas. The wine is concentrated, serious and dark with a core of black fruit and shadings of tar and briar, becoming chocolaty and long on the palate with mouth-coating tannins.

Lewis Winery 2001 Syrah

With its immediate throttle response and rich interior appointments, the 2001 Syrah generates plenty of excitement - and pleasure. Intense purple-black color radiates from the glass with powerful cedar, blackberry and vanilla aromas. Deeply fruited, compelling and curvaceously constructed, the wine is also geared to go the distance. 150 cases produced from 100% Syrah vines near the 1,500' summit of Pritchard Hill.

Lewis Winery 2001 Reserve Chardonnay

From a total of 50 barrels we chose only 8 for the 2001 vintage, making this the most limited release ever of our flagship Reserve Chardonnay Napa Valley. Spectacularly rich and creamy, the wine spent 11 months sur lies in 100% French oak and it exudes an alluring, buttery, pie crust character. Densely packed with layers of ripe pear, fig and hazelnut, and notes of cinnamon and vanilla, this chardonnay piles on the plush and lingers on the palate lush, long and balanced.

Lewis Winery 2001 Pinot Noir

This is our first ever Pinot Noir! Finding the right combination of throttle and brakes with this grape can be tricky, but you'll find plenty of horsepower and just enough restraint in our 2001 Pinot Noir Napa Valley. From a 3-acre vineyard just below the summit of Oakville Grade, the wine is deep and dark in color, with layers of sweet oak spice and ripe, black cherry fruit. Broadly textured with moderate tannins and hints of earth and smoke that add brooding complexity, the wine is serious, spicy and scarce.
