Indeed, to this day, Cotes de Nuits enjoys long, hot summers, and benefits enormously from mineral rich soils which are made all the more nourishing by the presence of limestone and chalk. Today, the wine industry of Cotes de Nuits is based primarily around white wines made from fine Chardonnay grapes, and red and rosé wines made from Pinot Noir varietal grapes. Tradition remains highly important to the wine-makers of the region, and many time-honored methods are employed throughout the wine-making process.
