The building that now houses Napa Wine Company is actually a culmination of two historic winery properties. The oldest building originated in 1877, home to the Noveau Medoc Winery. The newer of the two dates back to 1892. Eventually the properties were expanded to support large-scale production of generic wines. But America's taste for wine took a dramatic shift from generic jug wines to varietally-specific wines. In 1993, the winery was purchased by the Pelissa family who converted the former Inglenook facility from a mass production winery into a state-of-the-art custom crush facility. With an incredible team of craftsmen under the guidance of original winemaker Randy Mason, the Pelissas completely renovated the facility to accommodate small-lot, high quality production. The smaller-production focus allowed for artisan winemaking of over 20 varieties, for over 60 wineries. The same team that transformed the jug wine facility into a custom crush facility also launched a new brand in 1999, aptly named Napa Wine Company. The brand name was resurrected from one of the original names associated with the property in the 1930s and 1940s. It features the best varieties from the partners' 100% certified organic vineyards in Yountville and Oakville, Napa Valley. The wine brand still connects with its past by incorporating "Bonded Winery #9" into the label, signifying the status of the original building that produced wines in 1877.

Sourced from our own organically grown Yount Mill Vineyards, this wine delivers layer after layer of intriguing fruit nuances. The nose provides a combination of ripe pears, figs and honey. The full-bodied mouth reveals green apples with spice and vanilla characters contributed from barrel fermentation and aging.
Napa Wine Company Winery Sauvignon Blanc
The Sauvignon Blanc has an 85% skin contact that contributes to the nose of gooseberry amplifying the character of the Sauvignon Blanc grape. Essence of lemon, honeysuckle, citrus, fig and grapefruit resonate in the mouth. 15% 'whole cluster' pressing contributes silky depth and roundness in the mouth. Grown in the newly recognized Yountville Appellation on our own organically farmed vineyards.

This Zin, tasted at the ZAP event a few weeks ago, is from the company's organically grown Pelissa Vineyard in Oakville. The Napa Wine Company, one of the Valley's most influential custom crushers, is consistently producing wines of their own now that are worth noticing. This Zin, processed by utilizing whole berry fermentation, has marvelous sweet, juicy fruit, which lasts until mid-palate, until the acidity kicks in to balance the whole. But make no mistake, this is no fruit bomb of a Zin. It's sturdy, substantial, and will age a long while. In fact, hold it for a couple of years and I bet it'll continue to mature for 20 years (which would be something for an organically grown wine).
Napa Wine Company Winery Cabernet Sauvignon
The Cabernet Sauvignon received French oak barrel aging to provide the wine with a rich, supple mouth feel and a hint of toastiness. The wine delivers concentrated fruit providing layer after layer of intense fruit flavors of blackberry and black cherry with a blending of a caramel essence and a beautiful spice intensity.
