Rudd Winery Chardonnay
Ripe, rich and full-blown, but for all its intensity and concentration, there's a sense of elegance and Rated 92 - finesse, as the creamy pear, fig, nectarine and light vanilla-scented oak flavors are delicate and sharply focused. Finishes long and complex.
Rudd Winery Red Wine
There are 1,600 cases of the 1999 Jericho Canyon Vineyard Proprietary Red. It is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This wine boasts both an impressive opaque purple color and bouquet of creme de cassis, roasted coffee, melted chocolate, toasty oak, licorice, and creosote. It is full-bodied, thick, and rich, with brooding but well-integrated tannin under all the flesh and density. It will undoubtedly firm up (particularly in a cold cellar), and last for 15+ years.
Rudd Winery Sauvignon Blanc
Bright, grassy and focused, with good depth and deft flavors to tart pineapple and peach highlighted by lively, lemony acidity.
Rudd Winery Jericho Canyon Red
The unfiltered/unfined 1998 Jericho Canyon Vineyard (2,850 cases) spent 16 months in French oak. The opaque black/plum color is accompanied by aromas and flavors reminiscent of a blend of Cheval Blanc and La Mission-Haut-Brion from an overripe vintage. Notes of plums, cassis, blackberries, espresso, Asian spices, licorice, cedar, and tapenade make an appearance in both the aromas and flavors. Extremely full-bodied, with sweet tannin, an opulent/voluptuous texture, full body, brilliant purity, and low acidity, this wine represents a synthesis in style between an exotic right bank Bordeaux and a California Cabernet. Having achieved 14.2% alcohol naturally, it is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc from a vineyard in northern Napa Valley.
