Given the age of the stocks (some more than 45 years old), this wine has amazing fruit presence. While Tradición hones to a dry style for its wines, this bottling has a certain voluptuousness and fruitiness that’s unusual in wines of this style. Youthful and complex, it deserves time and patience when you open the bottle, a wine of meditation, one to accompany late night conversations about changing the world. ... More details

The single vintage wines are different, but they are not necessarily better than the solera wines. In fact I preferred the Oloroso VORS to the two single-vintage; I found it more complex and fluid, while the single vintages were more concentrated and powerful, but not as nuanced. I’m talking about the NV Tradicion Oloroso VORS, on average 45-50 years old, which gives the wine a concentration of glycerin and dry extract that is amazing. Silky, very interesting to see the wine that has been blended over the years is more complex. The proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove, it is full-bodied, and still follows the same, clean, elegant, precise line of the rest of the wines from Tradicion. Drink 2013-2025.

Bodegas Tradición’s specialism is very fine, oxidative wines. This Oloroso is textbook, showing a note of volatility on the nose to add pungency, and a mouthwatering freshness on the palate. It's the perfect wine to pair with a strong and salty sheep’s milk blue cheese. Drinking Window 2018 - 2023

Almost plump, with a juicy core of orange, date, persimmon and toasted mango. The edges are dry, with bitter almond and musk accents lending contrast. The finish features an echoing iodine hint. Distinctive. Drink now. 400 cases made.

Country: Spain

Ever since the Phoenicians and Romans brought their knowledge of vine cultivation to Spanish soils, the country's culture has grown alongside wine production, with wine being a vital part of Spanish identity and Spanish traditions. Each region of Spain has a wine quite distinct from the others, and it is produced by smallholders and families as much as it is by large companies and established wineries. From the relatively mild and lush regions of La Rioja to the arid plateaus that surround Madrid, grapes are grown in abundance for the now booming Spanish wine industry, and new laws and regulations have recently been put in place to keep the country's standards high. By combining traditional practices with modern technology, Spanish wineries are continuing to produce distinctive wines of great character, flavor and aroma, with the focus shifting in recent decades to quality over quantity.
