The 2020 Rosato is a deep, almost blood orange color in the glass and presents a wild bouquet that blends sweet strawberry and mint with nuances of nectarine, ginger cookie and tropical citrus. It’s soft-textured yet vibrant and juicy, saturating the palate with tart wild berries and exotic spices, all motivated by nervous acidity. Minerals upon minerals upon minerals linger on, along with sour citrus and cherry, through the lightly structured finale. This is truly gorgeous today, and it will likely continue to impress through the summer of next year as well. This varietal Gaglioppo Rosato is one of the rare examples of a 2020 outshining the same wine from the 2019 vintage. ... More details

Winery
100% Gaglioppo from massale selection. This parcel- Vigna Fego- has clay/marl soils, and is very close to the ocean; farmed organically, with cover crops and wild herbs. The average age of the vines is 9 years, and the site is planted with 5,500 vines per hectare. The fruit is harvested manually at the end of September. After crushing and destemming, the grapes macerate for 12 hours in stainless steel without temperature control, after which they are not pressed, but drained by gravity. Fermented with native yeast, and no temperature control; 100% malolactic. Aged 8 months in stainless steel.

Country: Italy

It isn't difficult to understand why Italy is famed not just for the quality of its wines, but also for the vast variety and range of characteristics found in the wines there. The terrain of the country varies wildly, from the lush rolling green hills and valley of Tuscany, to the sun drenched rocky coasts of Sicily, the mountainous and alpine regions of the north, and the marshy lowlands of the east. Italy really does have a little bit of everything. Combine this huge range of landscapes with an almost perfect climate for grape cultivation, and you have a country seemingly designed for viticultural excellence. The results speak for themselves, and it is clear to see that wine has become an inseparable part of Italian culture as a result of its abundance and brilliance. Each village, city and region has a local wine perfectly matched with the cuisine of the area, and not an evening passes without the vast majority of Italian families raising a glass of locally sourced wine with pride and pleasure.
