Atwater Wine

New York Wine, Finger Lakes

About Atwater Winery and Vineyard

Atwater Estate Vineyards lies along the glacier-carved hillsides of Seneca Lake, a premier grape growing region of the Finger Lakes Wine Region of New York. In 1999, Ted Marks, along with Phil Hazlitt, purchased the eighty-four acre piece of land that lies between the eastern shores of Seneca Lake and Route 414 in Hector. The established vineyards were previously owned by Rolling Vineyards Winery, which was one of the original farm wineries established after the Farm Winery Act of 1976

Winemaker Vincent Aliperti joined the Atwater staff in the spring of 2001. He was previously an assistant winemaker at both the Wolffer Estate, Long Island, NY and Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard of the Finger Lakes. He uses his distinctive style, talents and knowledge in the production of our quality wines.

The Atwater winery has been modernized with the addition of refrigerated stainless steel tanks and new oak barrels to help establish the present production of 16,000 gallons of wine. The Atwater winery is currently planted with 60 acres of fifteen varietals, including native, hybrid and vinifera grapes. We have the potential to produce 50,000 gallons of Atwater Wine and eagerly anticipate our growth as our winery progresses.

Meritage

"Atwater Estate Vineyard's Meritage is licensed with the Meritage Association as a blend of three classic red Bordeaux varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Ripened on the eastern slope of Seneca Lake, this marriage of grapes is Atwater's standard-bearer. Fermented and aged in French oak, this medium-bodied wine displays notes of plum, ripe cherries, and mocha. This exquisite wine makes the perfect dinner companion with hearty entrees." - Winery

Atwater Chardonnay

"A crisp, clean, well-balanced wine. One will find a richness of fruit ~ apples and pears, along with a hint of toasty-vanilla. Enjoy this Chardonnay with rich and creamy foods." - Winery

Atwater Pinot Noir

"This velvety vintage has a fruity bouquet, soft tannins and a gentle hint of black raspberries. Pinot can be savored on its own, but is superb with game and meat, and is the best red wine to drink with seafood Atwater Estate Vineyard's 2001 Pinot Noir certainly lives up to the grape's exceptional heritage." - Winery

Reserve Red

"This wine was made with Marechal Foch and Cabernet Franc grapes, fermented in American oak. Enjoy this soft red wine with pasta and red meats. Serve at cellar temperature." - Winery // Bronze - 2002 New York State Fair, NY; Bronze - 2003 Tasters Guild, MI

Estate Red

"After a short hiatus, Atwater Estate Vineyard's Estate Red has returned to its former prominence. This wholesome blend of Marechal Foch, Chancellor and Chelois is loaded with flavors of ripe cherry and strawberry. Serve slightly chilled with barbeque or your favorite pasta." - Winery

Dry Riesling

A drier-style Riesling. Crunchy, with tasty light lime, fig and mineral notes, floral nose. A refreshingly crisp finish. Goes well with fish, poultry and light pasta dishes.

Gewurztraminer

Made in the Alsatian-style - low in residual sugar, with a higher alcohol content. Its unmistakable bouquet displays notes of white peppercorn, rose petals, and grapefruit. Our Gewürztraminer's distinctive characteristics accentuate foods such as Asian cuisine, sausage and pork dishes." - Winery

Somerset Red

"Atwater Estate Vineyard's Somerset Red is a semi-sweet red that exhibits a fruity bouquet and supple berry flavors. A blend of Leon Millot, Baco Noir, and Catawba, this is the perfect beginner's red wine - soft and fruity with luscious flavors that compliment easy going fare, such as pizza, burgers, and chili." - Winery
