The Burgundy region of France is one of those world-famous locations, where viticulture and fine winemaking runs through the very blood of the people who work there. Perfectly situated, with climatic conditions and soil types which result in some of the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines in the world, it has an impressive history which stretches back through the fascinating and often turbulent history of the country. If you want to see Burgundy wine at its most representative, look no further than the beautiful winery of Chateau Fuisse, which can be found in the stunning appellation of Pouilly-Fuisse. An impressive fifteenth century tower looms over the old stone winery building, which is inhabited by the latest generation of winemakers whose own history covers over three hundred years.

One of Chateau Fuisse’s claims to fame, and one of the reasons why they’re recognized as one of the best wineries in the region comes down to their vines. This winery has some of the oldest vines in Burgundy, with an average age of over sixty years, which produce Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes of the finest quality. Low yields keep standards exceptionally high, and the grapes are hand-picked to make sure only the best make their way into the blend. Stony, calcareous clay soils and south facing slopes bring stunning character to the fruit, and time-honored traditions and generations of expertise go into producing the bottles which are released year on year.

Today, Chateau Fuisse is run by Jean-Jaques Vincent, a talented oenologist who combines his family’s traditional methods with state-of-the-art technologies in order to produce wines which represent his pristine terroir. He is joined by his daughter, Benedicte, who shares her father’s dedication to continuing to uphold Pouilly-Fuisse’s fine reputation in both the domestic and international markets. This new generation of winemakers at Chateau Fuisse continues to impress, and long may that continue.
