The 2020 Dancing in The Sun is made with fruit from the Cullen and Mangan Vineyards. Verdelho is a potent variety in this blend—even additions as small as 5%, or thereabouts, contribute two things: a distinct dry grass character to the nose and a firm/coarse line of phenolics through the back palate. It also assists in allowing the wine to age more slowly. Despite the warm, plush vintage, the wine is savory, however the texture does reflect the season. It is plump and viscose, with notes of green pineapple, yellow grapefruit, juniper, saltbush, snow pea and enoki mushroom. As with all the Cullen wines, fruit concentration is never in doubt. ... Sauvignon blanc, semillon and a little verdelho, this has a ripe stone-fruit and lemon-curd nose with a stream of fresh herbs, too. The palate has a fresh core of lemon, papaya and melon flavors. Smoothly finished. Drink now. Screw cap.

Region: Margaret River

When it comes to the south-westerly part of Australia, the Margaret River is by far the most important and productive of the area's wine producing regions. The region itself currently has over five thousand hectares of land under vine, and there are almost one hundred and fifty wineries operating there, making the most of the humid and warm climate many experts claim is remarkably similar to that which is found in the Bordeaux region of France. Such a climate can only produce fantastic yields of grapes of exceptional quality, and indeed, Margaret River currently produces almost twenty percent of Australia's wines. Both red and white wine grapes grow in the region, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Sémillon being the varietals most commonly and widely grown.

Country: Australia

With over sixteen thousand hectares of Australian land now under vine, Australia has become something of a world leader in regards to wine production. One of Australia's key attributes to their success has been their willingness to leave traditional vineyard practices to one side, and develop techniques which are perfectly suited to a New World country. Modern Australian wineries take into consideration the climate and the unique soil types which cover much of their country, and have had fantastic results from cross-breeding programs and blending practices which make the most of the grape varietals which thrive most successfully there, notably the Shiraz and Chardonnay grapes. In recent years, Australia has been lauded as the 'most influential' wine producing country in the world, and the rest of the New World is looking down under for inspiration, and the ability to produce comparable fine wines on their own terrain.
