The French region of Burgundy is famed worldwide for the quality of its beautifully juicy, deeply colored Pinot Noir wines. The region has been a home of fine viticulture for over two thousand years, and today it is still filled with wineries and vintners that maintain the traditions of their forefathers, and keep the glorious reputation of Burgundy wines alive. One such winery is Domaine de Montille, a Cote de Beaune domaine which is currently celebrated as being one that is responsible for producing some of the most expressive, pure and delicious Pinot Noir wines available in Burgundy today. The origins of the domaine as it is today are in the early 1950s, when Hubert de Montille inherited two and a half hectares of prime Cote de Beaune vineyards, and set about producing bulk wine for local buyers. However, it wasn’t long before de Montille wanted to expand, and he bought vineyards in Pommard and Volnay, taking his holdings to over fourteen hectares. His bulk wine was quickly recognized as being of a superior quality, and his success continued to grow throughout the twentieth century.

Today, Domaine de Montille is run by Hubert’s son, Etienne de Montille, who has taken his father’s vision and run with it. Etienne is dedicated to traditional Burgundy winemaking, and employs techniques such as hand picking, partial destemming and allowing the grapes a long maceration period, in order to reach maximum expression in the bottle. Expression is key at Domaine de Montille - wines are bottled unfiltered after aging in oak barriques, and this results in beautifully harmonious wines, packed full of the juicy, full flavors we expect from a high quality Burgundy winery. The winery is ever expanding, and constantly seeking out the best land on which to grow its Pinot Noir vines. Domaine de Montille has recently purchased vineyards in Corton and Cote de Nuits, and is beginning to produce some wonderful white wines to add to their already impressive portfolio.
