Bright, dark red. Very ripe aromas of musky black raspberry and meat showed a floral element with air. Rich and tactile but a bit youthfully stunted, conveying a restrained sweetness to its flavors of dark fruits and spices. Most impressive today on the juicy, long, rising finish, where the tannins are nicely supported by the wine's material. I like the slight positive vegetility and spice character that no doubt comes from the stems. Very different in style from the more floral, perfumed Clos-Saint-Denis, and perhaps a bit longer. ... This required close to 30 minutes of air to really get rolling but once it did it offers up a notably ripe combination of earth, anise, sandalwood and various dark berry fruit scents. There is outstanding richness and volume to the relatively sleek but muscular big-bodied flavors that terminate in a firm but not austere finish. This very powerful effort is very clearly built-to-age and a wine that is definitely going to need at least half a dozen years first.

A hefty dose of sweet, spicy oak is underscored by a deep well of dark cherry and plum fruit. Mineral, licorice and tobacco accents add interest as this plays out on the long finish. A bit plodding now, yet concentrated and long. Best from 2023 through 2045. 130 cases made, 21 cases imported.

Intense cherry nose, close to jammy, with an appealing direct fruitiness. Rich and plump, full-bodied, super-ripe and almost jammy on the palate, with a peppery character. A touch too exuberant and lacking finesse, but it does have an impressive depth of fruit.

Varietal: Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir translates as 'black pine' in French, and is named as such due to the extremely inky color of the fruits, which hang in bunches the shape of a pine cone. Wineries often struggle with Pinot Noir vines, as more than most red wine grape varietals, they fail in hot temperatures and are rather susceptible to various diseases which can be disastrous when hoping for a late harvest. Thanks to new technologies and methods for avoiding such problems, however, the Pinot Noir grape varietal has spread across the world to almost every major wine producing country. Why? Quite simply because this is considered to be one of the finest grape varietals one can cultivate, due to the fact that it can be used to produce a wide range of excellent wines full of interesting, fresh and fascinating flavors Their thin skins result in a fairly light-bodied wine, and the juices carry beautiful notes of summer fruits, currants and berries, and many, many more.

Region: Burgundy

In the beautiful French wine region of Burgundy, there is archaeological evidence to suggest that there has been viticultural activity going on for at least two thousand years. To add to this, there are early written records praising the exceptional wines produced in this region dating back to the 6th century, making Burgundy one of the oldest established and still operational wine regions in the world. The region is most commonly associated with fine red wines, with Pinot Noir being the primary grape varietal grown on its rolling hillsides and gently sloping valleys. However, Chardonnay grapes are also produced in abundance for the production of their fine white wines, with both varietals benefiting greatly from the region's warm, hot summers and the superb soils which make up the terroir.

Country: France

French winemakers are subjected to several laws and regulations regarding the wines they produce, and how they can be labeled and sold. Such procedures are designed to increase the overall quality of the country's produce, and also to ensure that wines made in each particular region or appellation are of a character and type which is representative of the area. Thankfully for consumers of wine world-wide, the French have a particularly high reputation to uphold, and seem to do so flawlessly. Every year, wineries from all over France produce millions upon millions of bottles of fine wine, making the most of their native grape varieties and the excellent terrain which covers most of the country. From the expensive and exquisite red wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy, to the white wines and cremants of central France, the French are dedicated to providing the world with wines of the highest quality and most distinctive character.
