Changing these characteristics can produce strikingly different wines from the same fruit variety, very much the way a particular kind of coffee can taste different if the bean is grown in Kenya versus Hawaii. The deep, vibrant color of this wine promises intensity and rich fruit. On the nose, classic Alexander Valley aromas of black cherry, blackberry and cassis dominate, with accent notes of cedar and vanilla. Intense blackberry fruit and spice are the hallmarks of the palate. The wine is juicy, structured and balanced, with persistent flavor and a finish of fine-grained tannins.
A complex, fruit-driven style of Chardonnay reflecting the terroir of this cool climate vineyard. The color is medium straw with attractive green hues. The nose is dominated by elements of ripe pear, tropical fruits, and fig with an interesting mineral/ crushed oyster shell edge. These are enhanced and complexed by slight butteriness and some sweet, toasty oak characters. All of these attributes continue through into a long, creamy textured palate, which finishes with balanced natural acidity.

The aroma is a compilation of dried roses, fennel seed, spice, mint and an underlying component of sweet cedary oak. The palate is rich and round with flavors of wild berries and a finish of plush tannins.
A decidedly hedonistically-styled wine, Sandy Lane embodies what great Zinfandel is all about. Deep black fruit overtones of blackberry and currant are underscored by accents of fresh mint and bittersweet chocolate. The glycerin-rich, juicy palate opens with nuances of coffee and tobacco against a background of briar berry fruit. The abundance and richness of this wine will pair beautifully with hearty dishes like Osso Bucco.
A great example of Viognier. The nose is an exotic array of orange blossom, lychee, jasmine and honeysuckle aromas with a very subtle complexing component of barrel ferment bouquet. Following is a finely balanced palate of fresh vibrant fruit characters, with bright acidity and long persistence of flavors beyond. This style, we feel, will be at its best in its youth and pairs beautifully with shellfish and lightly spiced cuisine from the Pacific Rim.
