Professional Wine Reviews for Kiralyudvar Tokaji 6 Puttonyos Aszu Lapis 2006

Rated 98 by Wine Advocate
The 2006 Tokaji AszĂș Lapis 6 Puttonyos is a pure Furmint bottled with 10% alcohol and 239 grams of residual sugar (total acidity: 11.4 grams per liter, pH: 3.17). Deep, ripe, rich and concentrated on the nose, it displays aromas of bright green and orange tea, porcini, raisin and dried apricot and some minty notes intermixed with honey scents. This is a highly delicate, dense, juicy, beautifully concentrated, piquant and persistent Tokaji with enormous finesse and length. There is so much tension, vitality and concentration here, and it's combined with lush and charmingly generous fruit as well as lots of salt and great finesse that makes this noble sweet wine light-footed and soaring. This is an exceptional sweet wine that can compete with the very best on planet wine. And it's not yet finished. The 2016 is still on the rise and will improve further. It's the kind of sweet wine that you can't stop drinking without punishing yourself.

Winery Kiralyudvar

Country: Hungary

Hungary is a country not always readily associated with wines and viticulture, and yet this central European country has one of the most unique and important wine cultures in the Old World. The regions around Lake Balaton produce many of the most elegant and flavorful white wines to be found anywhere, characterized by their slight sweetness and flavors of elderflower and gooseberry. However, it is the historic Tokaj region which really shines as Hungary's premier wine producing area, as this is the home to the 'noble rot' wines which carry such interesting and unique flavors and aromas, adored by serious wine lovers worldwide and influencing vintners across the globe. Tokaji wines tend to be slightly viscous, and packed full of surprising notes of marzipan, dried apricot and candied peel, and are a great example of Hungary's exciting wine culture and history.
