Bright-hued ruby color. Fragrant, spice-tinged aromas of raspberry, cherry, boysenberry and candied rose take on a smoky nuance with air. Fleshy and concentrated but energetic as well, the Lazy River Vineyard offers sappy red/blue fruit flavors that spread out slowly and turn sweeter through the mid-palate. It finishes on a resonating cherry note, with solid thrust, well-judged tannins and strong, floral-driven persistence.

There's a dense blueberry core that concentrates the flavors in this wine, which, along with the Temperance Hill, is the ripest of all Lavinea's 2017s. It breathes open into a lovely burst of sweet cinnamon and punchy allspice, adding texture and detail through a long finish.
Winery
Shiny garnet with violet hues, deep yet crystalline. The initial aroma reveals approachable sour cherry, earthy minerals and kirsch. The nose opens to reveal blueberry, black raspberries, and black currents with hints stone fruit and lavender. Rich and lush with a smooth entry on the palate that carries a lovely velvety texture of refined tannins wrapping finely around a focused core of strong minerals. Broad, yet with a tightening finish and a beautiful texture that provides a lasting impression. This wine, with its generous red fruit and silky mouthfeel, is a crowd pleaser.

Varietal: Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir translates as 'black pine' in French, and is named as such due to the extremely inky color of the fruits, which hang in bunches the shape of a pine cone. Wineries often struggle with Pinot Noir vines, as more than most red wine grape varietals, they fail in hot temperatures and are rather susceptible to various diseases which can be disastrous when hoping for a late harvest. Thanks to new technologies and methods for avoiding such problems, however, the Pinot Noir grape varietal has spread across the world to almost every major wine producing country. Why?
