The 2018 Red Blend Bravado is a blend of 40% Syrah, 36% Carignan, 14% Grenache, 9% Petit Verdot and 1% Mourvèdre, all from Itata, and spent 18 months in neutral barrels. Purple in color. The nose delivers notes of blackberry and raspberry with hints of cherry, herbs and orange petit-fours. Relaxed and juicy in the mouth, the tannins are fine and grippy. A long-lasting wine that lives up to the sum of its parts, which is saying a lot.

Rated 90 by Wine Advocate
The 2018 Bravado goes back to a more classical blend that is dominated by Syrah, complemented with 36% Carignan, 14% Grenache, 9% Petit Verdot and 1% Mourvedre in a cooler year than the 2017 I tasted next to this 2018. Despite the cooler year, it feels rounder and has more volume, and the nose reveals some notes of tempera paint, licorice and an earthy note that makes me think of graphite. The palate is full-bodied with abundant dusty tannins. 23,952 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2019.
Wine Spectator
A bit disjointed, with minty herb notes, simple dried berry flavors and drying tannins. Syrah, Carignan, Grenache, Mourvedre and Petit Verdot. Drink now. 1,200 cases made, 700 cases imported.

Country: Chile

Whilst being widely regarded as definitively 'New World' as a wine producing country, Chile has actually been cultivating grapevines for wine production for over five hundred years. The Iberian conquistadors first introduced vines to Chile with which to make sacramental wines, and although these were considerably different in everything from flavor, aroma and character to the wines we associate with Chile today, the country has a long and interesting heritage when it comes to this drink. Chilean wine production as we know it first arose in the country in the mid to late 19th century, when wealthy landowners and industrialists first began planting vineyards as a way of adopting some European class and style. They quickly discovered that the hot climate, sloping mountainsides and oceanic winds provided a perfect terroir for quality wines, and many of these original estates remain today in all their grandeur and beauty, still producing the wines which made the country famous.
