Opaque ruby. Incisive aromas of peppery red fruits and dried flowers, with subtle vanilla and mineral nuances adding complexity. Juicy redcurrant and bitter cherry flavors become deeper with air while maintaining very good clarity. The bitter cherry note repeats emphatically on the vibrant finish, which is framed by youthfully chewy tannins. Give this youngster some air--or, better yet, stash it in the cellar for another five years.

The region itself is highly varied when it comes to both terrain and climatic conditions, and much of the region needs year round irrigation from freshwater sources in order to keep the arid and dry land fertile enough to support vines. Wineries in South Australia were first established over a century ago, and have been operating in the global market for decades now, having learned over time how best to grow their distinctive fine grape varietals in this often unpredictable and difficult place. The results have been excellent, with many of the finest Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Shiraz wines to come out of the New World having their home in South Australia.

In recent years, Australia has been lauded as the 'most influential' wine producing country in the world, and the rest of the New World is looking down under for inspiration, and the ability to produce comparable fine wines on their own terrain.
