The 2013 Tinto Reserva is a blend of Touriga Nacional (35%) and Touriga Franca (65%), aged for 14 months in a 75/25 mixture of used and new French oak. It comes in at 13% alcohol. This is where Romaneira steps up and adds more concentration, a feeling of fullness in the mouth and a tighter, more gripping finish. While not exactly abandoning the winery's basic, subtle style—the wine is approachable, shows refinement and finesse—this understated red sneaks up on you, the fruit lingering beautifully and becoming more interesting as it airs out. While the fruit becomes juicier and tastier the longer this is open, it is always dry and serious. All the while, it's a perfect food wine, simply lovely. There is not a hair out of place here. Nothing will make you go "wow," but this bottle will drain quickly at the table. No information was provided on availability.
