A fruit bomb that's easy to sip, with cherry and spice flavors that finish with a tannic snap. Merlot, Zinfandel and...

Sean Minor wines has a story which is fairly typical for a Californian winery. It was founded by the Minor family - a couple who had no wine heritage behind them, no ancestral vineyards or inherited cellars, yet had a passion for wine in their everyday lives which they wanted to transfer to a business. To work with what you love is everybody’s dream, and the Minor’s were confident that their dedication and fascination for the craft of winemaking would help them create the sorts of wines they’d love to drink, and which they believed would be popular with others, too. Sean himself quickly set to work gaining knowledge at wineries in Napa Valley, before working under some of Oregon’s finest vintners in order to learn more about the craft he so admired. When he and his wife returned to California, they knew it was time they put their knowledge and enthusiasm to the test, and so set up two labels - Four Bears, and Sean Minor Wines.

Since 2005, they’ve been making quintessentially Californian wines of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon varietal grapes, and have received great and consistent praise for the the character and balance of their various produce. Their fruit is carefully sourced from many of the state’s premier vineyards, mostly those in Sonoma and Napa Valley, where the long, hot ripening season and cooler nights results in remarkably balanced fruit with a great level of expression.

Sean Minor chose Will Bucklin as his associate in the winemaking process - a seasoned vintner who oversaw the production of many of Oregon’s finest Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris wines at the turn of the century. Together with the Minors, Bucklin shares a vision of producing wines which do justice to the fantastic appellations they come from, and which are affordable and approachable for those who wish to explore them.
