Professional Wine Reviews for Teresa Manara Negroamaro 2015

Rated 91 by Vinous Media
Deep ruby-red. Very perfumed on the enticing nose, offering very spicy and very floral nuances to the red fruit aromas and flavors. Closes long and luscious with refined tannins. The grapes were harvested very late (October 8, when Negroamaro is generally picked in the second half of September).
Rated 88 by Wine Advocate
Here's a straight-shooting and particularly honest expression of the tricky Negroamaro grape that (in line with the literal translation of its name) offers contrasting tones of sweetness and sourness. The Cantele 2015 Negroamaro Teresa Manara gushes forth with solid black and purple fruit. The mouthfeel offers a pause to all that abundance, thanks to its medium build and relatively tame 14% alcoholic content. You could do a lot with this easy wine in terms of food pairings, from beef fajitas to a simple burger and fries. Production is 52,000 bottles.

Winery Teresa Manara

Region: Puglia

Italy's beautiful southern wine region of Puglia is a fascinating place for fans of Italian wines. Situated in the very 'heel' of the country, sticking down into the Mediterranean sea, one can hardly imagine a more perfect place for viticulture. Rich, fertile volcanic soils help the grapes take on real character and stunning flavours, and the blazing sunshine of the long summers allows them to reach exceptional levels of ripeness. The wines of Puglia are a great example of how certain Italian regions are throwing off the poor reputations of yesteryear, and using their traditional techniques and methods to create characterful wines, packed full of unique flavours. Puglian wines are renowned for their large, powerful and boisterous characters, and their excellent structure which supports their strong and unique fruit flavours.

Country: Italy

For several decades in the mid to late twentieth century, Italy's reputation for quality wines took a fairly serious blow. This was brought about partly due to lack of regulation in certain regions, and too much regulation in others. This led to several wineries in the beautiful and highly fertile region of Tuscany making the bold move to work outside of the law, which they saw as responsible for the drop in quality in Tuscan wines. They believed that they had the expertise and the generations of experience necessary with which to make truly excellent, world class wines, and set about doing just that. These 'Super Tuscans', as they came to be known, quickly inspired the rest of Italy to improve their produce, and now, Italian wine producers in the twenty-first century are widely recognised to be amongst the best in the world. Regulation and law began to change, and wine drinkers across the globe woke up to the outstanding wines coming out of Italy, which are continuing to improve and impress to this day.
