The 2018 Gramina Cuvée des Vignerons is all Assyrtiko, unoaked and coming in at 14.2% alcohol. This, said founder Yannis Valambous to me, is meant to be "our flagship wine, a cellar selection wine. This is the top wine to be released...each vintage." The winery picks for this bottling a specific plot (not always the same one), and harvests at night. The vines exceed 70 years in age. It stayed on the lees for 12 months and then was held back a year in bottle. The goal, they say, is a "delicate Assyrtiko with elegance and balance," not a powerhouse.
