They are most commonly made from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle grapes, although French law dictates that Sauvignon Gris, Merlot Blanc, Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Ondenc and Mauzac can all also be used in the production of these excellent wines. For centuries, the wineries of this region have been working and perfecting the skills necessarily to get the most flavor and positive characteristics of these grapes, and other wine producing countries in the world will no doubt continue to emulate these world leaders when it comes to selecting and blending said grape varietals.
