The 2018 Dézaley Grand Cru Médinette offers an intense and elegant bouquet of ripe pears, white flowers and crushed stones. Round and fresh on the palate, with stunning freshness and vibrant minerality, this medium to full-bodied Chasselas from the Dézaley grand cru finishes with nice bitters and lingering salinity. The 2018 Dézaley Grand Cru Médinette from Bovard is 100% Chasselas brought up all in foudre. It has a pretty, elegant, juicy style as well as notes of honeycomb, crushed citrus, and white flowers, with more minerality and stony notes developing on the palate. Nicely balanced, with building richness and integrated acidity, it opens up beautifully with time in the glass and should keep for 4-6 years, if not longer.
• Hand harvested (from 25 y/o vines), crushed, short maceration on the skins, fermented in foudre for 10 months.
• With an ideal southern aspect, one that takes advantage of the reflected rays of sunlight from Lake Geneva below (altitude 400-600 meters), and the looming presence of the surrounding Alps, the Chasselas that Louis Bovard grows here defies the neutral description that is so frequently applied to the variety. Medinette is rich and complex, subtly mineral and impressively poised – in short, a Grand Cru wine.
