Youthfully slow to open, the medium ruby colored 2017 Pinot Noir Emery takes time to offer up dried tobacco leaves, Earl Grey tea leaves, dried lavender, cranberries and pomegranate aromas with notes of blackberries, fragrant earth, citrus peel and amaro. It's medium-bodied and silky with slowly blossoming fruit, spice and earth layers, firmly framed and fresh with a long, layered finish. Deep scarlet. Spice-accented cherry and blue fruit aromas pick up cola and floral accents with air. Juicy, seamless and nicely concentrated, offering lively black raspberry, boysenberry and bitter cherry flavors that show fine definition and smoky back-end thrust. Finishes long and lively, with lingering red fruit, spice and floral notes and rounded tannins that make a late appearance.

Pinot Noir is one of the planet's most widely grown and enjoyed grape varietals, and thanks to the popularity of the key wines it is associated with – Burgundy and Champagne – it has successfully spread from its native home in France to much of the wine producing world.
