Felsina winery started out as something of a risk - it was bought by Domenico Poggiali in the 1960s, possibly the lowest point for the Italian wine industry in regards to reputation, quality of produce and scope for development. However, Domenico had faith in the land, just as he had faith in his ability to produce fascinating, expressive and delicious wine from the grapes he was growing. Within a decade, Felsina was turning the Italian wine scene on its head, and producing the kinds of quality red Sangiovese wines the country is known for today. That risk-taking, enterprising spirit has never left Felsina, and as the winery grew, Domenico’s children started getting involved, bringing the winery truly into the 21st century. Today, it’s a leading light in Chianti, ever-evolving, and continuing to blaze new trails for others to follow.
