There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. Here, in the home of the world's finest wines, the type and quality of grapes used is of utmost importance, and the legendary wineries which work on the banks of the Gironde river have mastered the careful art of juice blending to find the perfect balance for their produce. 90-92 Barrel sample. Aromas of new wood mark this wine. On the palate, the tannins are gentle, with flavors of ripe black plum, nutmeg and milk chocolate.

Decanter

A little less angles and depth than 2009 or 2010 (2011 was dry but cooler than the preceding two years), this is enjoyable and nuanced with clear precision in the fruit. At this point it's showcasing the Cabernet Franc character through a true floral edge. A slightly difficult harvest for Merlot especially - the first year when organic was being practised over all the vineyard and it was the Cabernet Franc that really saved the vintage. This year was particularly austere when young and it's just now starting to soften - a very good wine that is starting to show what it can do.
