Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

Gruner Veltliner is a pale skinned white wine grape varietal most closely associated with central European countries such as Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In recent years, it has spread somewhat to several New World countries, where it is becoming gradually more popular and regularly seen in wine stores. One of the main attractions of this grape varietal for winemakers is the fact that it is highly versatile, and can be used for the production of several different wine styles, including young, dry white wines, excellent sparkling wines, and it is also a grape varietal which is well suited for aging Gruner Veltliner has the ability to express much of its terroir, and the best examples are generally those which are full of delightfully mineral-rich flavors alongside the more usual notes of citrus fruits and peach.

Over the centuries, relatively little has changed in Austrian wine, with the dominant grape varietals continuing to be Grüner Veltliner, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir and others. Austria is renowned for producing excellent and characterful dry white wines, although in the eastern part of the country, many wineries specialist in sweeter white wines made in a similar style to those of neighboring Hungary. Today, Austria has over fifty thousand hectares under vine, split over four key wine regions. The domestic wine industry remains strong, with Austrians drinking their local produce outside in the summer, and people around the world are beginning to once more rediscover this fascinating and ancient wine culture.

The 2022 Grüner Veltliner Loiserberg is a cool south-southeast facing site of terraced mica schist site, rising to 380 meters. Gentle yeasty funk on the nose shimmers with both citrus and pear peel. The palate brings hayflowers and a touch of balm-like texture. Yeastiness on the mid-palate holds a touch of citrus zest. Still, it wraps itself smoothly around the bright pear and juicy yellow plum before tapering into beautiful freshness, again with a lovely zesty edge. The finish is strait-laced. (Bone-dry)
Winery Notes
Loiserberg, a terraced Erste Lage (Premiere Cru classified) vineyard with a southeast exposure, is their highest and coolest vineyard site, at 400m above sea-level. The vines here are over 30 years old, and the soils are composed of glimmer slate, with a little loess on top. The cold winds from the northwest chill down this hill as soon the sun goes down, so the fine fruit aromas in the berries are preserved. The combination of microclimate and soil creates a wine with a crystalline structure and pure fruit. The grapes are harvested according to taste, not by analysis; it is only a short time between not-yet-ripe and overripe maturity. If the grapes are too ripe, the minerality is lost.
100% spontaneous fermentation in 2000L barrels (local oak, old barrels); 6 months on full lees before bottling. All single vineyard wines are 100% botrytis free.
