Coming from vines just around the next château, the 2021 Vieux Château Mazerat is 90% Merlot (which is more Merlot than usual) and 10% Cabernet Franc that was brought up in 80% new oak. It’s a gorgeous wine that has notes of ripe red and black fruits mixed with camphor, leather, and spicy tobacco in a medium-bodied, elegant, finesse-driven style that carries lots of minerality.
