Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

Only the finest oxidative wines are classified as Palo Cortado, and that usually happens only after they age for a long time, as is the case with the rare 1991 Palo Cortado de Añada, a rarity because it’s not from a solera blend of vintages, but from a single harvest. Not having younger wines blended in makes the evolution faster, and vintage Sherry wines usually feel older than the corresponding solera ones. It was interesting to taste next to the Cuatro Palmas, a very old Amontillado, older on average than this wine, which was darker, denoting more oxidation, and I could have said they’d be about the same age. The Añada had pungent aromas but was a lot more aromatic and expressive, and it had a gentle touch that the edgy Amontillado was not showing. The palate was intense, and the flavors refused to leave your mouth well after you have swallowed. These are eternal wines that can be kept forever, even after the bottle has been opened. Stunning! Only 992 beautiful bottles, which reproduce the old bottle and are sealed with thick red wax, will be filled in April 2019, but the wine is not going to change after 27 years in cask.
Sherry is a fortified wine produced under strict Denomination of Origin (DO) regulations in the Jerez region of southern Spain. It must be made within the Sherry Triangle, which includes Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and El Puerto de Santa María. The primary grape used is Palomino for dry styles, while Pedro Ximénez (PX) and Moscatel are used for sweeter sherries.
Sherry undergoes a unique aging process, often using the solera system, a fractional blending method that ensures consistency over time. It ranges from bone dry to intensely sweet, with styles like:
Fino & Manzanilla – Crisp, delicate, and aged under flor (a protective layer of yeast).
Amontillado – Aged under flor, then exposed to oxygen, developing a nutty, richer profile.
Oloroso – Fully oxidized, dark, and full-bodied with deep caramel and spice notes.
Pedro Ximénez (PX) – Lusciously sweet with flavors of raisins, figs, and molasses.

Terrific complexity in the nose with mahogany, grilled nuts and such good rancio, as well as walnuts. The palate is impressive with such bold acidity, holding the finish very long. Smoky, flinty and dry, grilled nuts to close. Drink now.
Winery Notes
This vintage Palo Cortado is from a selection of the best 200 casks from the 1991 vintage and has been ageing as a vintage in American oak since then. On the nose elegant, complex and powerful with aromas of nuts, candied orange peel, vanilla and tobacco. Alluring and velvety on the palate. An extremely well-balanced wine with notes of walnut and caramel complemented by a long, aromatic finish. It is recommended to allow this wine to breathe before drinking. A wine to be mediated on its own.
