Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

Rated 94 – The current release of the Tarlant family’s “BAM” non-vintage Blanc de Blancs is from the exquisite base year of 2012, with the wine finished with around fifty percent reserve wines from the dedicated solera created for this bottling several years ago. The vins clairs are barre-lfermented and do not go through malo, with the wine having spent more than ten years aging sur lattes and this release was disgorged in June of 2023 and is, of course, non-dosé. It is made from a cépages of twenty-seven percent each of pinot blanc and arbanne, coupled with forty-six percent petit meslier. The wine’s aromatic constellation is outstanding, offering up a bright and complex 185 blend of apple, peach, raw almond, chalky soil tones, bread dough, just a touch of buttery oak and a lovely topnote of white flowers. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and elegant, with a superb core of fruit, fine mineral undertow and grip, a superb spine of integrated acidity, elegant mousse and a long, complex and impeccably balanced finish. As I have mentioned several times in the past, I would have more of an affinity for non-dosé bottlings if more vignerons aged their wines ten years on their fine lees before releasing them, so that the acids do not require buffering with dosage. The sparkling wines of Champagne have been revered by wine drinkers for hundreds of years, and even today they maintain their reputation for excellence of flavor and character, and are consistently associated with quality, decadence, and a cause for celebration. The beautiful rolling hillsides of the Champagne region of France have, for hundreds of years, been producing many of the world's most famous wines. The sparkling white wines to come out of Champagne's prestigious wineries have conquered the world, and are drank in celebration across the globe. The vast majority of the region is under vine, and grows predominantly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varietals, which are usually blended together by master wine-makers in order to make their recognizable and widely loved produce. The north-easterly region of Champagne has a relatively cool climate, and quite a lot of rainfall, making it far from ideal for ripening grapes. However, the presence of heavily forested areas in the region helps maintain a balanced temperature, and the generations of expertise the wineries hold clearly produces excellent results in spite of the climatic problems.

The NV BAM is Tarlant's unique blend of Pinot Blanc, Arbanne and Petit Meslier, three indigenous varieties that are seldom seen these days. Citrus, white flowers, mint, white pepper and chalk are all finely cut in a bright, focused Champagne endowed with tons of crystalline purity and class. Lively acids reappear to frame the finish. Think of BAM as a Chablis-leaning wine, with bubbles of course.

A mineral-driven Champagne, with viscosity to the lightly woolly mousse, which softens the impact of the rapierlike acidity. As always, it is sourced from the lieu-dit Four à Chaux – Sables in Oeuilly, a north-facing site planted in 2003 with alternating rows of Pinot Blanc, Arbanne and Petit Meslier—Blanc, Arbanne, Meslier, hence the cuvée’s acronymic name. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, taut and electric, with searing acidity, a tensile core and a chalky finish. This wine has the lowest pH in the range and will appeal primarily to acid devotees; it may come across as somewhat austere to the uninitiated.
Winery Notes
27% Pinot Blanc/27% Arbanne/46% Petit Meslier. "BAM!" is an acronym of these three relatively rare, low-yielding Champagne varieties. The vines were planted in 2003 on sandy, silica-rich limestone soils in the lieu-dit of Four à Chaux-Sablé in Oeuilly and are certified-organic like the rest of Tarlant's sites.
