Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

You certainly don’t need oak to produce a truly fine wine of great ageing potential. As seen here, in this vibrant expression of Malbec, fermented and aged in concrete, whose crunchy cranberry, red cherry and plum fruit is outlined by chalky, fine tannins. There’s a zesty tension throughout, with pink grapefruit zest, red apple peel and tomato leaf adding freshness and nuance. Thick, fleshy minerality defined a lean muscularity – as Sebastián Zuccardi eloquently described it ‘this is a marathon runner rather than a bodybuilder’.
The purple Malbec variety grapes which now grow all over the Old and New Worlds had their origins in France, where they are one of the few grape varieties allowed to be used in the highly esteemed blended wines of Bordeaux. However, it is perhaps the New World Malbec wines which have attracted the most attention in recent years, as they thrive in hot southern climates in ways they cannot in their native country, where the damp conditions leave them highly vulnerable to rot. Malbec grapes are renowned for their high tannin content, resulting in full-bodied red wines packed with ripe, plummy flavors and held in their characteristically dark, garnet colored liquid. In many countries, Malbec is still used primarily as a varietal for blending, as it adds a great level of richness and density to other, lighter and thinner varietals. However, single variety Malbec wines have been greatly on the rise in recent years, with some fantastic results and big, juicy flavors marking them out as a great wine for matching with a wide range of foods.

The 2021 Finca Canal Uco leads with a wonderfully pure, deep core of black and purple fruits with savory, tar-like accents and lifted herbal, underbrush-tinged top notes. The palate is generous and lush yet balanced with an alluring, deft gracefulness that straddles burly, bramble-laden fruits with deep concentration and no excess weight. The finish is charred and smoke-driven, marrying strident, persistent and gently chewy tannins with focused, energetic acidity and cascading length. A beautiful combination of ripe fruits, burly structure and poise, this could use a year or two in the cellar to further integrate its tannin structure, but I suspect it will be fascinating to keep track of over the following decade.

Blackberry, blueberry, bark, earth and dark mushroom aromas. Some spices and mountain herbs. Touches of cement. Medium-bodied with a real depth of fruit. Density and power at the end. It takes you deep in the center palate. Tannins are well assimilated and polished. No wood. Made in cement. Give it three to four years to open and come together.

The product of a cool vintage in the Uco Valley, the 2021 Malbec Finca Canal Uco aged for one winter in concrete vats. It opens with aromas of dried leaves, intense flower tones and notes of blue and black fruits. Compact on the palate, with talc-like tannins and fine fruit expression, it delivers good concentration and a lengthy finish. Compared to other Zuccardi reds in the Finca range, this one leans on the richer side. Excellent.

Savory opening elements of river mint, fresh cardamom and chalk foreshadow what's to come in this structured red. Abundant mineral acidity lends tension to concentrated wild berry flavors, while the opening notes circle back and add bitter cocoa details on the long, slightly grippy finish. This wine could benefit from a couple of years to find its peak drinking window. Best from 2026 through 2040.
