Just below the village of Volnay, this vineyard is wedged at an angle between two other premier crus—hence its name. The wine is structured although with the delicious, generous fruit of Volnay. It has weight and great black fruits, smoothly textured and deceptively ready to drink. Really, it will be best to wait until 2022.

One of the successes of the range is the 2017 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Angles, a lovely wine that bursts with notes of cherries, raspberries, woodsmoke and rose hips. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and velvety, with a succulent core of fruit, ripe and powdery tannins and good persistence on the finish.
