The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Boudots 1er Cru is gentler on the nose compared to the Pruliers, scents of wild strawberry, raspberry, crushed limestone and light ferrous aromas unfolding from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a sweet entry. This has a lot of sucrosity and energy. Powerful and vivacious toward the saline finish, which reveals touches of boysenberry and black cherries and lingers for 45 seconds. Superb.

An exuberantly spicy nose is also overtly floral while displaying fresh aromas of red berries, newly turned earth and humus scents along with a mentholated top note. There is excellent intensity to the rich, full-bodied and powerful medium weight plus flavors that possess ample muscle on the robust, sappy and hugely long finish where the only reproach is a touch of warmth. Good stuff that is also clearly built to repay long-term keeping.

Domaine Grivot owns a 0.85ha parcel in Boudots on the elegant Vosne side of the village. The grapes are carefully destemmed, leaving as many whole berries as possible and macerate before fermentation, with a gentle combination of punching down and pumping over. The result here is ripe and forward, with an interesting mix of red and black fruit, a lovely silky texture, and a silky, persistent finish. Drinking Window 2024 - 2039.
