The NV Brut Vignes de la Vallée is a blend of 70% 2012 and 30% perpetual reserve that spent a whopping 68 months en tirage. A Champagne of tremendous density and breadth, the Vignes de la Vallée is wonderfully expressive today. A touch of oak in fermentation works so well in bringing out the natural richness of Meunier. Orchard fruit, hazelnut, dried flowers and spice linger on the beautifully shaped finish. Dosage is 5.6 grams per liter. Disgorged: February, 2018.

The sparkling wines of Champagne have been revered by wine drinkers for hundreds of years, and even today they maintain their reputation for excellence of flavor and character, and are consistently associated with quality, decadence, and a cause for celebration. The beautiful rolling hillsides of the Champagne region of France have, for hundreds of years, been producing many of the world's most famous wines. The sparkling white wines to come out of Champagne's prestigious wineries have conquered the world, and are drank in celebration across the globe. The vast majority of the region is under vine, and grows predominantly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varietals, which are usually blended together by master wine-makers in order to make their recognizable and widely loved produce. The north-easterly region of Champagne has a relatively cool climate, and quite a lot of rainfall, making it far from ideal for ripening grapes. However, the presence of heavily forested areas in the region helps maintain a balanced temperature, and the generations of expertise the wineries hold clearly produces excellent results in spite of the climatic problems.

Disgorged in February 2018 with 5.6 grams per liter dosage, the latest release of Dehours's NV Brut Les Vignes de la Vallée is based on the 2012 vintage. It's showing beautifully, offering up aromas of woodsmoke, crisp yellow orchard fruit, beeswax, citrus oil and fresh pastry. Medium to full-bodied, textural and enveloping, with a pillowy mousse, racy acids and a nicely concentrated core of fruit, it's a vinous, incisive wine that's seamless and charming.
