Gamay

Gamay, a red grape varietal primarily associated with Beaujolais in France, is celebrated for its vibrant and approachable character. What makes Gamay unique is its immediate charm and versatility, offering wines that are light-bodied yet bursting with flavor. Known for its low tannins and high acidity, Gamay wines are exceptionally food-friendly and often enjoyed slightly chilled. The grape expresses red fruit flavors such as cherry, raspberry, and sometimes a subtle hint of banana. Beaujolais Nouveau, a young and fruity style of wine released just weeks after harvest, exemplifies Gamay’s exuberant nature. Beaujolais Crus, like Morgon and Fleurie, showcase the grape’s ability to produce wines with depth and complexity. Gamay’s allure lies in its quaffable and joyous character, making it a favorite for those seeking easy-drinking reds. Appellation

Beaujolais

Beaujolais, nestled in the southern part of Burgundy, France, is a distinct wine region renowned for its vibrant and approachable red wines crafted primarily from the Gamay grape. What makes Beaujolais unique is its winemaking technique known as carbonic maceration, fostering fruity and aromatic wines with low tannins. The region is home to ten crus, including Morgon and Fleurie, each expressing different terroirs and stylistic nuances. Beaujolais Nouveau, released just weeks after harvest, is a celebrated tradition, offering a preview of the vintage's fresh and fruity characteristics. The region's granitic soils contribute to Gamay's expressiveness, yielding wines bursting with red fruit flavors, floral notes, and a delightful acidity. Beaujolais showcases a spectrum of styles, from the light and quaffable Beaujolais-Villages to the more structured crus. Exploring Beaujolais unveils the charm of these wines, reflecting the region's convivial spirit and the versatility of the Gamay grape.

JD 90pts

Jeb Dunnuck

Intense ruby in color, the 2024 Fleurie is open and expressive, as floral as it should be, with just the right measure of subtlety and class. The red-fruited palate is supported by refined tannins, digestible and crunchy, that leave the fruit entirely free. The texture and substance are medium-bodied, the aromas held back a touch, on notes of small tangy red fruits such as raspberry and redcurrant, with the finesse that marks the vintage. Lovely and complete, full and pleasing, and a pretty cuvée, this wine is well considered from start to finish. Enjoy it over the next 5-7 years. Drink 2026-2033.

Winery Notes

The wine has structure and richness. Together, they give density, ripe tannins and a juicy black-cherry quality to this fine wine. While the wine is young, it has swathes of fruit and structure. It is rich and ready to drink after 2-3 years of bottle ageing.
