JoAnn’s Summer 2025 Wines to Remember
Every summer it seems like I fall in love with a new lineup of bottles — some planned, some stumbled upon, all unforgettable. This year was no exception. From breezy rosés to a surprise whisky crush, here are the finds that colored my summer in the best way possible.
Sulauze Coteaux d’Aix en Provence Rosé Pomponette 2024
This was my ultimate porch wine. Light, playful, and just the right shade of pink, a rosé that makes you want to linger outside a little longer, even when the sun dips. With its delicate strawberry notes and refreshing minerality, it’s the kind of bottle that disappears far too quickly (don’t ask me how I know).
Donna Paolina Fiano di Avellino 2023
I wasn’t expecting to love this one as much as I did. It’s vibrant, with green apple and pear upfront, then just enough richness to keep it interesting. I loved pairing it with grilled seafood and, honestly, it even stood up beautifully to late-night pizza. That versatility made it a go-to bottle when I didn’t want to overthink pairings.
Domaine Carneros by Taittinger Brut Rosé
Sometimes summer calls for bubbles, and this one delivered. Recommended by our Wine Specialist, Nick, this sparkler is elegant yet playful, with notes of red berries, citrus, and a hint of brioche. I popped it open on a random evening while visiting Cooperstown and it instantly elevated the occasion. Sometimes the best memories aren’t tied to big events, but to simple, unexpected moments.
Glenmorangie Scotch Single Malt The Nectar 16 Year
My biggest curveball of the summer. Who drinks whisky when it’s hot out? Well… apparently, me. Smooth, layered, with subtle sweetness and spice. It was like dessert without the guilt. I especially loved enjoying it when the evening cooled down and a slow sip felt just right.
Final Thoughts
This summer’s bottles weren’t just about taste, they were about the moments that came with them. A sunset here, a laugh with friends there, a quiet night with a favorite pour. Each bottle reminded me why I love exploring new tastes — it’s not just about what’s in the glass, but the memories you make with it.
Here’s to more discoveries, more glasses poured, and more simple joys in the seasons ahead.
