Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

There is a big jump in quality in the 2019 O Esteiro when compared with the 2018 that I tasted next to it. There is an extra layer of texture and depth here. 2019 was a fantastic vintage for reds at this address. It’s always more or less the same blend of Mencía, Caíño and Espadeiro defined by the vineyards they use. It’s produced in a simple way and is a very good reflection of the varieties, the granite soils and the character of the vintage; this vintage is warmer, riper and more complete, with more black peppercorn. It has 11% alcohol. 2,000 bottles produced.
Ever since the Phoenicians and Romans brought their knowledge of vine cultivation to Spanish soils, the country's culture has grown alongside wine production, with wine being a vital part of Spanish identity and Spanish traditions. Each region of Spain has a wine quite distinct from the others, and it is produced by smallholders and families as much as it is by large companies and established wineries. From the relatively mild and lush regions of La Rioja to the arid plateaus that surround Madrid, grapes are grown in abundance for the now booming Spanish wine industry, and new laws and regulations have recently been put in place to keep the country's standards high. By combining traditional practices with modern technology, Spanish wineries are continuing to produce distinctive wines of great character, flavor and aroma, with the focus shifting in recent decades to quality over quantity.

Galicia
The northern Spanish wine region of Galicia is a fascinating one indeed, and is most definitely a wine region to keep your eye on today and in the near future. Once an important center of viticulture and wine trade, Galicia suffered from a huge and devastating economic depression in the 19th century, leaving many of the vineyards untended and useless. However, the 20th century saw various organizations pour money into Galician wine making, thus rebooting the wine industry of this relative wet and windy region on the Atlantic coast. Today, the region is being celebrated for its superb and flavorful blended white wines, made from native grape varietals such as Albarino and Caino Blanca, and is continuing to rebuild itself and regain former glories.

Winery Notes
There are a couple of rare red wines under the "O Esteiro" label and this one is the blend - organically grown 33% Espadeiro, 33% Caíño, and 33% Mencía on granite soils with an average age of 40-100 year old vines. Harvest is done by hand, grapes are spontaneously fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and aged for an additional 12 months in used neutral French oak barriques. The wines are not fined or filtered, with minimal to no S02 at bottling. A very fresh, bright, low ABV, crunchy and chillable red, rare from Rías Baixas as only around 1% of the production here is red to begin with!
