Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

The nose of the 2024 Finca O Pereiro is flinty and smoky. This was produced with grapes from vines planted in 2004 in the Ría de Arousa on the clay-rich parts of the property, which is very close to the sea, some 200 meters away. The wine matured in a 5,000-liter oak foudre, and it has nuance, complexity and depth that show how the place is more important than vine age. It has good ripeness but keeps the tension, and it has great harmony and a tasty and salty finish. This is extremely young but already harmonious and with the stuffing and balance to develop nicely in bottle.
The pale skinned grapes of the Albarino varietal have been grown in and around Spain and Portugal for almost a thousand years, where they are highly enjoyed and prized by the locals for their distinctive aroma, and sharp, tart acidity levels. Over the past century, their influence has spread to the New World, and many vineyards keen to emulate the white wines of Spain have had considerable success with this varietal. The light bodied wines which are produced from the Albarino grapes have wonderfully aromatic properties, and carry ripe flavors of soft summer fruits, apricot and peach, with a mild and pleasantly bitter after taste brought on by their thick skins. Because of their acidic nature, they are a fantastic match for many Spanish foods, and are best served chilled on a hot day.

Once an important center of viticulture and wine trade, Galicia suffered from a huge and devastating economic depression in the 19th century, leaving many of the vineyards untended and useless. However, the 20th century saw various organizations pour money into Galician wine making, thus rebooting the wine industry of this relative wet and windy region on the Atlantic coast. Today, the region is being celebrated for its superb and flavorful blended white wines, made from native grape varietals such as Albarino and Caino Blanca, and is continuing to rebuild itself and regain former glories.

This has a conservative nose of grapefruit and stones. It's very tasty and minerally, with a thread of stone fruit and a structured profile. From a single vineyard planted on deep clay soil. This was fermented and aged in a 2,500-liter foudre. Drink or hold.

The 2024 Albariño Finca O Pereiro is from Castrelo, Rías Baixas, on a clay-rich parcel planted in 2004. This aged in foudres. It offers aromas of honey and rose petal over a clean, straightforward expression. The palate is unctuous, voluminous and fresh. Skipping malolactic fermentation preserved its pure style. Intense and energetic, this combines freshness with a certain weight.

O Pereiro is an exceptional single-vineyard Albariño sourced from a plot of sandy and clay soils on the mouth of the river Umia in the Salnés region. It’s extremely taut and juicy, with vibrant acidity and depth, leading to a salty, stony finish. Just give it a bit of time in the bottle. Xurxo Alba worked as a wine consultant before taking over the family vineyards and developing a wide range of consistent whites and reds, including some fun takes like pét-nats.
Winery Notes
Xurxo makes this wine from 100% Albariño from a tiny 1 ha vineyard of 35 year old vines grown organically on clay soils over sand. All of the farming is organic, in a place where that is challenging. Grapes are hand harvested with spontaneous yeast fermentation of whole clusters (rare in this region!) in stainless steel tanks. Further aging for 12 months in stainless steel sur lie with slight filtration, no fining, and a low use of SO2 only at bottling. This is an unbelievable bottle of salty, minerally, and bright wine from Galicia that may be unmatched in it's precision or quality. A must taste!
