Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

Olorosos are white wines aged for so long in solera oak casks that they turn mahogany in color, but the real transformation occurs in the aromas and the palate. The NV Oloroso Asunción is a perfect example. Made from 100% Pedro Ximénez from Montilla-Moriles, it offers nutty aromas of sautéed almonds and saffron, along with undergrowth and caramel notes. Dry, lean and overwhelmingly chalky on the palate, it finishes long and persistent. This is a very impressive wine—a perfect contrast of dryness and richness with a refreshing core.
Sherry is a fortified wine produced under strict Denomination of Origin (DO) regulations in the Jerez region of southern Spain. It must be made within the Sherry Triangle, which includes Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and El Puerto de Santa María. The primary grape used is Palomino for dry styles, while Pedro Ximénez (PX) and Moscatel are used for sweeter sherries.
Sherry undergoes a unique aging process, often using the solera system, a fractional blending method that ensures consistency over time. It ranges from bone dry to intensely sweet, with styles like:
Fino & Manzanilla – Crisp, delicate, and aged under flor (a protective layer of yeast).
Amontillado – Aged under flor, then exposed to oxygen, developing a nutty, richer profile.
Oloroso – Fully oxidized, dark, and full-bodied with deep caramel and spice notes.
Pedro Ximénez (PX) – Lusciously sweet with flavors of raisins, figs, and molasses.
Sherry offers a wide range of flavors, from almonds and citrus in dry styles to caramelized dried fruits in sweet varieties. It is enjoyed as an aperitif, paired with food, or in cocktails, showcasing its remarkable depth and complexity.

This dry oloroso opens with aromas of toffee and peanut oil, followed by a hint of carpet dust. A full lusty high-powered palate delivers lightly burnt caramel and peanut brittle flavors. A long and lasting finish is driven by flavors of salted caramel and a distant note of chocolate.

The NV Oloroso Asunción was produced with Pedro Ximénez grapes (like all in Montilla), and as the grape achieves higher ripeness than the Palomino, the wines have a higher natural alcohol and need less fortification to reach the 19% alcohol that it is bottled with. It's aged in a solera system believed to be over 25 years of age, according to the documentation I received, but this used to be bottled at around 12 years old. This is still a little sweet, as it contains around 15 grams of sugar. It has a mellow character, quite approachable, with signs of medium age, not that old, aromatic and gentle in the palate, with the sugar making an appearance in the finish, balancing the faint bitterness. I prefer drier Oloroso, but here the sugar is not too noticeable. 2,600 half bottles were filled in March, in the first saca of 2019. The price is for a half bottle.
