Regularly described as being the grape varietal responsible for producing the world's most romantic wines, Pinot Noir has long been associated with elegance and a broad range of flavors The name means 'black pine' in French, and this is due to the fact that the fruit of this particular varietal is especially dark in color, and hangs in a conical shape, like that of a pine cone. Despite being grown today in almost every wine producing country, Pinot Noir is a notoriously difficult grape variety to cultivate. This is because it is especially susceptible to various forms of mold and mildew, and thrives best in steady, cooler climates. However, the quality of the fruit has ensured that wineries and vintners have persevered with the varietal, and new technologies and methods have overcome many of the problems it presents. Alongside this, the wide popularity and enthusiasm for this grape has ensured it will remain a firm favorite amongst wine drinkers for many years to come.

The 2023 Pinot Noir Amici Reserve Russian River Valley is a deeper red/ruby color and is layered with notes of leather, black cherries, fresh earth, and clove. It has a medium-bodied feel with broader shoulders and is approachable, featuring balanced ripeness of fruit, refined tannins, even acidity, and toasty incense that lingers on the finish. This vintage offers more depth compared to the 2022 and should drink very well over the next 10 years.

Made from grapes of premier vineyards in Russian River Valley, the Amici Cellars Reserve Pinot Noir showcases the classic Russian River characteristics of heady aromas, vibrant cherry fruit flavors and delicate tannins. A true beauty of a wine, it is delicious on release but will age well for 5-7 years. Elegant from start to finish, the wine offers rich aromas of bing cherry, cranberry, and orange peel. On the palate, juicy red fruit notes lead into violets, cherry cordial and blueberry compote with a long, velvety finish.
