Amazing aromas of crushed berry with bark, dark tea and blueberry undertones. Violets and lilac too. Full body, yet agile and vivid with dense and beautiful tannins. Licorice abd light tar finish. Endless. Drink in 2020.

Sitting at the top of the hierarchy, the 2014 Viña El Pisón is a wine that always stands out. It has a different balance, in the sense that it feels more complex, complete and balanced. Even within the power of the year, it has round and fine-grained tannins, powerful but subtle with great length. I again see the chalky tannins from El Carretil, with a very tasty, mineral, almost salty finish, and the elegance of the limestone soils. This has superb balance and everything it should take for a great future in bottle. 6,600 bottles produced.

Black cherry, currant and boysenberry flavors are bold, if a bit candied, in this rich red. Muscular tannins are well-integrated, and orange peel acidity keeps this lively. Concentrated, if a bit clumsy now. Best from 2020 through 2030. 1,100 cases made, 14 cases imported.

The delicate balance between all of the natural agents that comprise this unique environment produces a wine that is full of subtle minerality, fine fruit, both complex and delicate seasoned nuances and tannins that have enveloping and caressing volumes.
