Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. Here, in the home of the world's finest wines, the type and quality of grapes used is of utmost importance, and the legendary wineries which work on the banks of the Gironde river have mastered the careful art of juice blending to find the perfect balance for their produce. Whilst there are six 'official' Bordeaux grapes, the two key varietals for almost every fine Bordeaux wine are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and with good reason. The Margaux appellation of France's legendary Bordeaux wine region is one of the world's most famous and highly respected viticultural areas. For centuries, Margaux has been deeply associated with extremely fine wines of the highest quality, made using traditional and time-honored techniques in order to extract the very best, most refined and elegant flavors and aromas from the Bordeaux varietal grapes which grow there. Margaux wines are almost always blended, using two or three key Bordeaux grapes, commonly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc (amongst others). Composed of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, harvested from the 17th of September to the 10th of October, the 2019 Dauzac is aging in French oak barriques, 66% new. It weighs in at 14% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it soars out of the glass with vibrant notes of warm plums, fresh blackcurrants and redcurrant jelly with nuances of Indian spices, candied violets, dark chocolate and dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-coating black fruits with loads of spicy accents and a firm structure of ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long and refreshing.

An estate to watch, with a new owner, Christian Roulleau, who will be overseeing this vintage from beginning to end (still with the same director and technical team). Vibrant violet edge to this ruby red colour. Expressive aromatics even at this early stage, with nuances of peonies and berry fruits, laced with coffee bean, delivered with a raspy slate texture to the tannins that ensure the flavour hangs around. Well structured, plenty to get your teeth into here. Harvest September 17 to October 10, on fruit days only according to the biodynamic calendar. Heavy bottle, a little at odds with the vegan-certified, increasingly biodynamic ethos. Drinking Window 2027 - 2042.

The 2019 Dauzac is a potent, inky wine. Crème de cassis, chocolate, espresso, licorice and sweet oak come together in a jammy wine that is a bit disjointed at this stage. The bouquet is a bit diffuse, while the 66% new oak is quite evident. Readers will find a flamboyant Margaux. Even with those caveats, I get the impression there is quite a bit of potential.

The 2019 Château Dauzac from Margaux is a ripe, fleshy effort that delivers plenty of darker, almost blue fruits as well as complex notes of violets, leafy herbs, and incense. With medium to full body, a supple, elegant texture, and good acidity, it should easily be an outstanding wine.
