Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

A beautiful effort from Monbousquet, this 2005 comes across to me as one of their strongest efforts, with notes of toasty oak, black cherry and blackcurrant fruit as well as some licorice, incense and flowers. Full-bodied and opulent, this is an amazing wine from a terroir on the so-called “wrong side” of St.-Emilion. Drink it over the next 15 or more years. It is an amazing performance.
There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. Here, in the home of the world's finest wines, the type and quality of grapes used is of utmost importance, and the legendary wineries which work on the banks of the Gironde river have mastered the careful art of juice blending to find the perfect balance for their produce. Whilst there are six 'official' Bordeaux grapes, the two key varietals for almost every fine Bordeaux wine are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and with good reason. Whilst Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are renowned for their acidity and astringency, strong fruit and spice flavors and full body, Merlot grapes are notably rounded, soft, fleshy and lighter on tannin. A powerful, ripe, opulent Saint-Emilion, the 2005 Château Monbousquet sports a dense ruby/purple hue as well as a killer bouquet of red and black fruits, truffly earth, leather, and graphite. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a round, layered mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and despite all its fruit and texture, it stays balanced, graceful, and light on its feet. It’s a gorgeous Monbousquet that shows how well these can age. Drink bottles any time over the coming decade.

Full ruby-red. Captivating aromas of black raspberry, smoked meat, mocha and licorice. Wonderfully sweet, dense and fat but with excellent vinosity and inner-mouth perfume to the flavors of berries, mocha and licorice. A compellingly tactile vintage for Monbousquet, with the substantial but sweet tannins buffered by the wine's chewy mid-palate material. This was aged in 80% new oak, compared to 60% to 65% in 2006 and 2007. Really transcends its less-than-ideal terroir in Saint Sulpice de Faleyrens.

The 2005 Monbousquet is a blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-brick in color, it offers an array of earthy/savory notes - charcuterie, truffles, new leather, bouquet garni, and cigar box, over a core of blackberry preserves and redcurrant jelly. Medium-bodied, rich, and spicy in the mouth, it has a solid backbone of plush tannins, delivering a pepper and spice lift on the finish. Drink it now and over the next 10-12 years+. Purchased in 1993 by Gerard Perse, Monbousquet was his first Bordeaux acquisition before going on to purchase Chateau Pavie in 1998. The soils are a mix of sand, gravel, and clay.
