Enticingly golden colour, rich concentration on the attack which gives way to perfectly-judged balance of fresh acidities and creamy nectarine and white peach fruits. Silky texture from start to finish, with just-bitter-enough citrus and orange zest finish. This is a brilliant Raymond Lafon, one of my favourite for years.

92-94 Displaying a pale gold color, the 2019 Raymond-Lafon offers a knock-out nose of Seville orange marmalade, lemon meringue pie, pineapple tart and dried apricots with fragrant suggestions of jasmine, candied ginger, spice cake and lime blossoms plus a waft of wild fungi. The sweet, rich, unctuous palate delivers layer-upon-layer of candied citrus, exotic spice and stone fruit flavors, framed by a satiny texture and oodles of freshness, finishing very long and earthy.

The 2019 Raymond-Lafon has a lovely nose with white peach, beeswax and light saffron scents, seeming to have gained a bit more complexity in recent months. The palate is well balanced with more density and botrytis than the 2020 and gentle grip. There's dine mineralité here, and an energetic finish. This is one of the best recent releases from the estate.
