A perfect wine in every way, the 2010 Château Valandraud reveals sensational amounts of sweet cassis, smoky tobacco, leafy flowers, graphite, and crushed stone on the nose, and it’s full-bodied on the palate, with a pure, graceful, layered mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, integrated acidity, and one hell of an incredible finish. I think it’s even better than the absolutely brilliant 2009 and a solid step up over the 2005, making it unquestionably the finest vintage of this cuvée since its debut. It has another 25-30 years of prime drinking ahead, but don’t let that deter you, it’s absolutely heaven today. Drink 2026-2056.
